How They Met

At the beginning of the summer of 2009, Brennan and her friends decided to start a weekly happy hour and dinner club. Every Wednesday they would gather at a local Baton Rouge restaurant and started calling themselves the Young Professional Club (YPC). On one of the first Wednesday gatherings, they ended up at a local bar, The Bulldog. Brennan’s friend, Matthew Cloy, ran into Brian, a former LSU classmate, and introduced him to Brennan. Brennan told Brian about their weekly YPC meeting and invited Brian to join them the next week at The Bulldog again. When the next week rolled around, Brian showed up at The Bulldog with a few friends. They continued to see each other every Wednesday at the Bulldog, until Brian got Brennan’s phone number and asked her on an official first date. They consider July 1, 2009 their official anniversary after Brian referenced himself as her “boyfriend” in an email. Brennan promptly printed the email, highlighted the word “boyfriend” and paraded around work showing it off to co-workers.

Brian and Brennan realized that they both grew up in Mandeville, LA, shortly after they started dating. Not only did they both grow up there, they lived half a mile from one another! Brian attended Rummel High School in Metairie and Brennan was in public school on the Northshore, therefore they never knew one another. There is no telling how many times they crossed paths!

The Proposal

It’s no surprise that Brennan and Brian are fans of nice dinners, especially nice dinners in New Orleans. During the spring, Brennan is usually super busy with tax season, so she welcomed Brian’s idea of going down to New Orleans one Saturday evening for a nice dinner. They decided to eat dinner at Emeril Lagasse’s NOLA, and followed dinner with a walk around the French Quarter. Brian lead them to the river, while overlooking Jackson Square and New Orleans glimmering in the background, got down on one knee and asked Brennan to marry him. They celebrated afterwards with a few close friends at The Carousel Bar at The Hotel Monteleone.

The next morning they headed to brunch at the Palace Café, plans they had made weeks in advance. Little did Brennan know, Brian had arranged for both sides of their families to surprise her at the brunch, where they continued the celebration.
